If you plan to verify your documents and obtain a medical practice license in European Union countries, you will need a Certificate of Good Standing or Certificate of Current Professional Status. Obtaining these documents indicates that your educational, professional, and qualification competencies as a medical practitioner reflect positively upon you.

Many medical professionals who have moved abroad have the opportunity to obtain these documents quickly by registering with the Ukrainian Healthcare Professional Registration Agency (UHPRA).

Regardless of your profile and the country where you plan to stay, you will need to confirm and recognize your medical status, as the healthcare system in the European Union countries and the educational component significantly differ from the one you studied and worked under.

By becoming a member of the UHPRA, you, as a medical practitioner, can receive support in obtaining the necessary documents.

Since the form and method of confirming professional status may vary in different countries, we offer the following steps.

HOW TO OBTAIN A CERTIFICATE OF GOOD STANDING OR CERTIFICATE OF CURRENT PROFESSIONAL STATUS FOR GERMANY, ITALY, DENMARK, THE UNITED KINGDOM, AND OTHER EU COUNTRIES?

STEP 1. A registered medical practitioner planning to register in EU countries should contact the UHPRA with the relevant application, which is available on our website, along with a completed electronic questionnaire and scanned copies of supporting documents if there are any changes in their professional portfolio that are not reflected in their profile.

STEP 2. After receiving the application and attached documents, we will contact you and initiate the process.

STEP 3. Our experts will provide legal support for a range of other issues that may arise during our cooperation, including assistance with document translation and notarization, apostille or consular legalization, and notification.

In addition, our company has agreements with foreign companies to provide language and professional medical exams, which can also be beneficial to you.

A GOOD STANDING CERTIFICATE OR CERTIFICATE OF CURRENT PROFESSIONAL STATUS?

A Good Standing Certificate or Certificate of Current Professional Status confirms that you have no violations in your medical specialty as a registered member of the UHPRA.

You may also hear it referred to as a “Certificate of Impeccable Reputation,” “Certificate of Impeccable Reputation,” “Certificate of Current Professional Status,” or “Medical Practice License.”

If you plan to study, not work, you will need a different document, the Statement of Need or Certificate of Completion of Pre-graduate Medical and Surgical Training. Please read more here.

Do not confuse the Good Standing Certificate or Certificate of Current Professional Status with a police clearance certificate, which confirms the absence of criminal convictions, not violations in medical activity.

When seeking employment, you may be required to provide both of these documents, so it is recommended to also read the article ‘How to Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate.’
